The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Rick Giles can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: I just learned of Rick's repose today to my great dismay.

I met Rick "Bear" Giles (call sign KB5VIE) several years ago on the air as a fellow amateur radio operator checking into the NM Road Runner Traffic Net, occasional communications on the NM Megalink repeater system, and at several of the amateur radio community's annual Duke City Ham Fests. I don't think I could ever have met a friendlier fellow Ham than I met in Bear. My condolences go out to Bear's family, friends, and our larger amateur radio community.

Condolence: Our team at the Days Inn and Best Western PLUS in Las Vegas NM wish to express our condolences to Bears family and friends.

We got to know Bear through staying with us when on business. He always stopped in to see our staff and share his incredible knowledge and stories with us. Our hotel dog Mocha loved Bear and his homemade treats for her. I have never met a kinder person in my life.

Bear, you will be deeply missed by all of us who had the true privilege of knowing you. Rest in peace my friend!

Condolence: I'm sorry to hear of Bear's departure and pray for comfort to his surviving family members. Bear and I shared many good times in the SCA and in our love of dogs. He and his family became the proud parents of a puppy so many years ago. They named him "Mudfoot" I believe, and he was a twin brother to my puppy "Pug"

Bear was a very caring person and would help at events at the drop of a hat. His love of life and people is something that I will always remember. May God bless you and keep you in this time of mourning.
